     A team of 10 of our year 5/6 children had the pleasure of attending the Y.D.P  Primary School Festival at Stanground Academy. The children competed against other local primary school's, participating in Basketball, Handball and Dodgeball, before having a short fun session in the pool to conclude the day's activities.

  • Christmas Dinner Day!

    Today children from Leighton Pre-school came to join our Reception children for our annual Christmas dinner.  All the children had a cracker each and wore their Christmas crowns. Lots of the staff joined the children to share our Christmas dinners together. I highly recommend the chocolate orange sponge for pudding!

  • Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree!

    Two children visited The Burghley Estate to choose and help cut down Leighton's Christmas Tree.  A big thank you to the team at Burghley Estate who kindly donated the tree and their time to make this a really magical experience for the children and staff. We can't wait to see this tree in school.

    Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist born in 1929, who likes using dots in her art. Her Obliteration Room is being displayed at the Tate Modern Gallery; it is a white room transformed into a sea of colour with dots. Here is Leighton’s piece inspired by her work.

    At the end of October, the children took part in our first Spelling Bee Challenge! There were many examples of fantastic spelling across the whole school and lots of the children made great improvements. Well done everyone!

  • Autumn Attendance Winners

    Dolphin Class (Year 2) were very excited to be presented with the Best Class Attendance Trophy recently with 98.2% attendance last half term. The children were even more excited when they learnt that they also had a special pizza and chips lunch planned as a reward. Sadly, there were no photos taken but the pizza and chips were enjoyed by all. When the Attendance news was shared with parents and carers, it was lovely to see the responses congratulating the children on their achievement.
